The CVMA is the largest statewide veterinary medical association in the United States, counting a membership of over 7,800 veterinarians, registered veterinary technicians, veterinary staff, academics, and students.
Founded in 1888, the CVMA is the voice of the veterinary profession in California. Through its legislative and regulatory advocacy, robust member benefits, continuing education offerings, animal disaster relief efforts, charitable work, and numerous publications to the veterinary community and beyond, the CVMA prides itself on representing the members of a truly noble profession; one that uniquely blends intensive education and training with compassion, empathy, and communication.
The breadth of veterinary medicine and its practice areas is unrivaled by just about any other profession, and the needs of the profession are equally broad. Accordingly, the CVMA is constantly working to respond to those needs through education, outreach, advocacy, and engagement to its members, the veterinary community at large, legislative and regulatory decision makers, industry stakeholders, and the general public. In all of those capacities, the CVMA is always looking for ways to meaningfully support the interests of both its members and the California veterinary community as a whole.
