This seminar is open to veterinarians, veterinary technicians, hospital staff, and veterinary students only.

Course Description

The injuries associated with burns and smoke inhalation can be devastating and require extensive and expensive treatment. Multi-organ dysfunction is common. Infection can occur whether or not the wounds were contaminated at presentation and may be life-threatening (i.e., necrotizing fasciitis). Severe burn wounds are difficult to treat and carry high morbidity and mortality rates. Smoke inhalation may require life supportive care such as mechanical ventilation. However, aggressive and decisive management of burns and smoke inhalation can save lives. This talk offers a concise review of the assessment and treatment of fire-associated wounds.

Seminar participants will receive 1.5 units of CE credit.
