Benchmark Studies and Surveys
The Veterinary Hospital Manager’s Association publishes their own study of DVM compensation, Hospital Manager’s, licensed technicians, unlicensed assistants, Receptionists and Kennel. The most recent edition was published in 2013. VHMA members receive both hard copy and electronic copies of these individual reports. Go to VHMA.org for more details.
AAHA publishes a semi-annual report titled “Compensation & Benefits”, with the latest version being in 2014.
VETERINARY ECONOMICS magazine publishes an annual Benchmarks, a Study of Well Managed Practices. The report focuses on a variety of different subjects. Occasionally, they focus on support staff compensation, in which they report on approximately 1,000 plus practices that they survey each year. This is available on the Veterinary Economics website.
The AVMA also has a very up to date area on its website that follows articles as they pertain to best practices, management, productivity, job satisfaction etc…
- That area is titled: Exploring Veterinary Economics, which is a series of articles addressing a variety of economic issues facing the veterinary profession. The series began in early May 2013 and new articles are posted every 2-3 weeks.
