CAVMRC Disaster Response & Preparedness Fall Training Course – November 5, 2017
The California Veterinary Medical Reserve Corps is pleased to be offering a low-cost one-day classroom continuing education course to veterinarians, RVTs, and veterinary assistants on November 5, 2017! Course attendees will receive 7 units of CE credit for their attendance.
Course Title and Description
Animals in Disasters – Common Medical Conditions – This course provides detailed information on emergency/critical care topics that can benefit you in everyday practice as well as during a disaster response. Topics include:
- Fire-Related Injuries (burns/smoke inhalation)
- Care of the Working Dog
- Brain Injuries
- CAVMRC and Disaster Response
Guillaume Hoareau, DVM, DACVECC
Dr. Guillaume Hoareau is from France and earned his veterinary degree in 2008 from the National Veterinary School of Toulouse. After graduation, he completed a one-year internship in small/companion animal surgery and medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in 2009. Dr. Hoareau then went on to complete a three-year residency in small animal emergency and critical care at UC Davis in 2012. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD at UC Davis with the Integrative Pathobiology group, studying the consequences of chronic oxygen deprivation in various species. Dr. Hoareau is a board member of the European Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society.
Grant Miller, DVM
Dr. Grant Miller serves as the Director of Regulatory Affairs for the California Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA). As director, Dr. Miller assists California veterinary professionals with compliance issues and regulatory matters involving various local, state, and federal agencies. In addition, Dr. Miller heads the California Veterinary Medical Reserve Corps, a volunteer organization devoted to assisting animals with sheltering and veterinary care during disasters and emergencies.
