With several new laws taking effect in 2026, it is important for veterinary practices to have a clear view of the legal landscape to ensure continuing compliance. This talk will cover new and important laws pertaining to veterinary practice, as well as new general employment laws that apply to California businesses. The course qualifies as continuing education credit for the purpose of California veterinarian and registered veterinary technician license renewal.
This course qualifies for 1.5 CEUs.

Dan Baxter is the executive director at the CVMA, a role he assumed after 21 years as the CVMA’s outside legal counsel. In that capacity, he worked with the CVMA’s executive staff, Board of Governors, and membership on a variety of issues large and small, ranging from legislative and regulatory work to litigation.

Dr. Grant Miller serves as the Director of Regulatory Affairs for the California Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA), where he assists California veterinary professionals with compliance issues and regulatory matters involving various local, state, and federal agencies. In addition, Dr. Miller heads the California Veterinary Medical Reserve Corps, a volunteer organization devoted to assisting animals with sheltering and veterinary care during disasters and emergencies.
